About Ginseng PressThe ancient Chinese observed nature for hundreds of generations and discovered that all things follow patterns and cycles. The weather. Animals and plants. Emotions. Conflicts. Health and diseases. Social relationships. Life paths. The universe itself. These patterns are the laws of nature. The laws of nature can help us understand our place in the universe, help us prevent illnesses, natural disasters and social conflicts, help us learn about ourselves and others. They can make life simpler if we understand and follow them — or harder if we ignore them. Many of these valuable early observations have unfortunately already been lost, and much of what is available hasn't been translated into English. Ginseng Press was formed in 2002 to make this knowledge available to the Western world, through our website and our publications, including The Chinese Almanac, which is published yearly. Ginseng Press is owned and operated by Dr. Thomas Zhang and Ariel Frailich. About Dr.Zhang
Thomas later studied Traditional Chinese Medicine and mastered Five-element theory — the philosophy central to all traditional Chinese sciences — which gave him a deep understanding of all facets of human health. Perhaps it was more than coincidence that the name his parents gave him, Zhe, means "philosopher". In 1994 and 1995, Thomas had the rare opportunity to study Traditional Chinese Medicine in more depth with some of his father’s teachers in Tianjin, China. From those elders he learned the nearly forgotten roots of Traditional Chinese Medicine, including prevention and the root causes of disease. Since graduating from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine, Thomas has been practicing as a licenced naturopathic doctor and a registered Traditional Chinese Medical doctor in Thornhill, Ontario, Canada.
